This group has been active for a long time and has already made some remarkable assertions which render life simpler from the practical point of view. For example, I move a pot of green color five centimeters to the right, I push in the thumbtack beside the comb and if Mr. A (another adherent like me) at this moment puts his volume about bee-keeping beside a pattern for cutting out vests, I am sure to meet on the sidewalk of the avenida Madero a woman who intrigues me and whose origin and address I never could have known...

Just Fly, Baby

Fly

come on
uncling
unwrap
your wing

confuse
the gravity
with your
lovely personality

don’t feed
the fear
not even
with a bite
just fly baby
enjoy the flight

poem by Vesna

Here are the ladies, brewing the birds….cooking them up via magic :)
And here is the black ink version.

This poem by Vesna also had a heavy influence on the painting:

In this dream
we both dream the same dream at the same time.

In this dream
we are the trees and our roots touch.

In this dream
when we are the trees and our roots touch
the leaves on our branches start making the music.

In this dream
when we are the trees and our roots touch
and when the leaves on our branches start making the music
the silence is broken.

In this dream
when we are the trees and our roots touch
and when the leaves on our branches start making the music
and when the silence is broken
a new world is born.

--Vesna

Here, the tree hollows out and extends impossibly in the distance, and a single root lightens and takes the color of the blond girl's hair, and she mixes together with the essence (root) of the watery figure, and the dream begins. There are no leaves in the painting, but the idea is that the birds take their place--and become the music-makers which break the silence.

  1. Vesna's poems stir the imagination, soothe the soul, give courage to the reader's quiet weakness. Beautifully done, Vesna, and thank you for sharing, Zoe. I also opened your black ink version of the ladies brewing the birds. I agree with Vesna that the birds are perfectly drawn!! I spent some time with your drawing and am wondering if you have tied together, through the vine, life's interplay between good and evil, how we don't always recognize what is good and kill off this good thru a variety of ways...the slow inhalation of poison (jealousy and so on), the not knowing when poison (evil, but one facet of the plant species) lurks, just paddling on, brewing the birds (doves) that symbolize peace and freedom.

  2. yes! to the side of the black ink version, i wrote a bit about the flowers used, and how often plants (like the ones drawn there) can be used both as a medicine and as a poison... and then whether we think the person using them is good (shaman/ doctor) or evil (witch) based on our incomplete understanding...

  4. Once again a gorgeous work! What can I say? This is art. Two souls joined in one artwork. who is the "inspiration" and who the "inspired"? I don't know! The reference to the magic makes this painting more fantastic, supernatural. I also appreaciated the black ink version. I recommend to the others to give a look in order to understand plently this artwork.;)

    Hugs from Italy.
